A Little Wine Before Hitting So Cal

We had signed up for Harvest Hosts while we were at the Escapees Rally in Gillette and have now tried our first stay. Javelina Leap Vineyard and Winery is in Cornville, Arizona, not far from Sedona. It is on 10 acres and has a vineyard, wine making and a tasting room. We pulled in late in the afternoon and there was plenty of space to easily park. We went into the tasting room to let them know we were there and of course did a little wine tasting. They have some award winning wines and we bought several bottles. They sell gifts as well and had a nice selection of items for sale. We had a relaxing evening. We would have liked to stay longer to explore the area but we need to be in Mesa Wednesday to get some estimates of repairs on the motorhome at RV Renovators.

We got up Wedneday morning and went straight to RV Renovators in Mesa, AZ. They looked over the outside of the motorhome where A  Big Rock had jumped out and scrapped the side of the motorhome when we were leaving Rocky Point. Umm. We also want to have a desk/table made to replace the stand alone table we now have and we just need to send them a drawing of what we want and they can custom make it. We'll get an estimate from them once we email that over to them. Once that was done we made our way to a campground in Yuma we found on the Passport America site.    Foothill Village RV Resort is a nice resort right in town. This town has a ton of RV Resorts, most of which cater to Snowbirders, it looks like. Again, we only stayed one night and left early to make our way to So Cal. Thursday afternoon we arrived at our destination.
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort is the place where we stayed for two years when we first sold our house and were both working in the area. We spent most of the winter there last year as well We are planning on being here for a month. We have doctors and dentists to see, as well as family,  and our niece's wedding on the 15th. Also some work on the motorhome and hopefully a few Ducks games  and a play at South Coast Rep, where we had season tickets for many years. I probably won't be blogging as much but will do a few with some of the highlights of our stay.

Sunset at Lake Powell

We are in Utah but headed into nearby Page, AZ to do some shopping. On the way back, we stopped at a viewpoint to check out the views and got there just in time for sunset.

We did some kayaking while we were there, heading one direction one day and the other way another day. Great weather and great paddles. There are a number of fingers on the lake that are fun to explore We didn't take any pictures but below are a few we took on our previous trip that show some of the slot canyons that can be explored.
