More Time in City of the Rocks, NM

We really like City of the Rocks and decided to stay one more day and then another. We did have to move as someone else was coming into our original spot. There were actually quite a few first come first serve and we picked one of the non reservable for our next site. Another great site with a nice patio area right between some boulders.

We can't get over how surreal this place is and what interesting different shapes of rocks there are

We took a drive into Silver City, which is about 30 miles north of where we are staying. I had read on line about a restaurant that sounded pretty good, The Curious Kumquat, which is a restaurant and small international market. We sat outside and were told we could bring Savannah, which we did. They are a gastropub and had an extensive list of beers. There dinner menu looked really good with items such as Thai Red Curry Duck and Saffron Ravioli. There are also dinner tastings. It is fun to find these little restaurants with top chief quality menus in small towns such as Silver City. Lunch choices were also excellent. I had a mole chicken sandwich on whole wheat ciabatta bread with goat cheese, apple, and avocado. Yummy. They use local product as much as possible. A good find. Thursday we continue our New Mexico journey, heading to Oliver Lee Memorial State Park in Alamogordo.
