Day in Portland

it was sunny and windy when we got up but became cloudy and a little cooler as we near Portland. Portland is where the Columbia and Willamette Rivers meet. It has the nickname of Bridgetown due to its many bridges that across the two rivers, 11 of which are over the Willamette.

We parked near Tom McCall Waterfront which is on the west bank of the Willamette River in downtown Portland. It is about 36 acres and is home to many festivals, including the Rose Festival which we just missed by about a week.  We took a walk and had lunch at McCormick and Schmicks where we sat outside with Savannah. I had a great Salmon Saute with mushrooms and a sherry cream sauce. Very good,  Joe had a turkey ruben. He loves to try different ruben sandwiches. This one was just okay.

After lunch we continued our walk through the area.

We drove through the Pearl district which is an award winning, recognized leader in urban renewal filled with art galleries and restaurants. We went there to get our Trader Joes fix, stocking up on our favorite goodies

We just got a taste of Portland but enjoyed what we saw.
Got back to the campground and took picture of a ferry headed down the river.
