Onto the Columbia Gorge

Drove from Bend to Memaloose State Park, which is on the Columbia Gorge near the town of Mosier and not far from Hood River. This is a very pretty park with lots of trees, including some big Weeping Willows.
We lucked out and got a great spot with full hookups and with a view of the Gorge.

On Tuesday we drove through the Hood River Valley, or what is known as the Fruit Loop . It is a scenic drive through the area's orchards, forests and farmlands. You can sample fruit, taste wines or take a basket and go to a U Pick it Farm where you can pick the fruit yourself. We didn't pick any fruit but did visit a few wineries.

One of the wineries is the Gorge White House, an hundred year old farm, where you can taste wines and microbrewed beers and fruit and purchase your favorites. Their specialty was a pear wine which would make a tasty desert wine, but we ended up purchasing a few bottles of some red wines. We also bought a few pears that are grown there.   It was a nice drive, including the view of Mount Hood still covered in snow.
