Snow in June

We have been getting rain and Tuesday was expected to have rain all day.We decided to wait until Wednesday to leave as we didn't particularly want to drive the twists and turns of the drive down the hill.On Wednesday morning we got ready so we could leave before more rain was due. We made it down the mountain with just a little sprinkle. It was a pretty drive to Oregon. How beautiful it was to see the snow on the mountains of Mount Shasta.

The 14,162 foot mountain is the second highest volcano in the continental US. We continued on and stopped at a rest stop at Grass Lake, north of Weed, Ca.  We had some lunch and then I was taking a few pictures when it started snowing. Actually snow showers, but still. Doesn't summer start this month.

Yes, those white spots in the last few pictures are snow flakes.

We made it to Oregon and made a stop in Klamath Falls to do some shopping at Walmart. We also planned to get propane as we were are close to out. Unfortunately, we didn't notice how late it was and the propane shops closed at 5:00 and it was about 5 minutes after by the time we found a place that sold it. Per internet search, the few others in the area also closed at 5 Opps. Oh well, we headed to Rocky Point with plans to look for propane tomorrow. Rocky Point Resort is on the northern shore of Upper Klamath Lake. We have been here a number of times on vacations in the past. It is a small campground with cabins, rv and tent sites. It is right on the put in for the Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge Canoe trails. They rent canoes and kayaks and we are looking forward to getting out into the water again.
